Big Dot

Big Dot

Big Dot was designed (and fabricated) as an educational board for students to learn about data acquisition (the hard way). It is distributed as an OSHW kit and serves for low-power applications that use LoRa for wireless communication of environmental sensors. It supports popular development frameworks, such as Arduino and RIOT-OS.

Our hardware kit was funded by the “Network Public Spaces” (NPS) project at University of Virginia. NPS is a collaborative project involving the School of Data Science and the School of Architecture for the study and implementation of community-based environmental sensor networks.
